Cards, punching.-In a machine for duplicating jacquard-cards, sensing-pins that have passed through a perforation in a master-card are locked for punching a blank-card by pins that have not passed through the card. The master-cards are fed by a picker C from a hopper A through rolls G, a pin-box and rolls U to a bin V. The blanks are fed by similar mechanism to a bin Y. An eccentric 0 reciprocates the pin-box through a direct link and the punch-box through togglelinks S, Q. The position of the connection of the link Q to the punch-box is such that the latter reciprocates half the distance of the pin-box. On depression of the pin-box, sensing-pins 1 that do not find holes are raised together with coaxial set-bars 4. Inclines 20 on the latter move locking- bars 22 to the right, and projections 23 thereon hold the effective set-bars which, through rods 26, gag the punches. The parts are restored on the upstroke of the pin-box when the projections 23 enter recesses 17. Locking pawls may be fitted to the bars 23 to hold a group of pins inoperative.
