Latex, treating.-The properties of rubber produced by direct deposition from aqueous dispersions on to deposition strata, wherein the thickness of the deposit is a function of the time of immersion, are improved by submitting the surfaces not in contact with the deposition strata to the action of coagulating agents before drying. The dispersion may be natural latex or artificially prepared from raw or vulcanized rubber or reclaim, and may be concentrated, mixed with compounding ingredients, vulcanized &c. The deposition may be obtained by reduced pressure in the moulds, increased pressure on the dispersion, coagulants in the moulds, or coagulating ions in the dispersion, electrophoresis, or combinations of these means. The coagulation may be effected by the application of a heated liquid, as hot water, hot moist air, steam, liquid coagulants as acetic acid or calcium chloride solution, cold or warm, or coagulating vapours. The treatment may take place, alternately with the deposition of layers.
