Gas analysis. - In apparatus for determining the proportion of combustible gas in flue gases or other gas mixtures by burning them on an electrically heated test wire and determining the resistance of the wire, the supports for the wire are so arranged that the gas current passes them before reaching the wire, which is stretched longitudinally of the chamber. In the form shown two silver gold pins 4, 5 axe carried on an insulating plug 13 in the wall of the testing- chamber 1. The test wire 6 is attached directly to the pin 5 and supported at its other end by a bracket 14 carried by the pin 4. The gas enters the chamber 1 by an opening 2 at its end near the pins 4, 5 and leaves by an opening 3 at the other end. A comparison wire. 8 and bridge measuring device of the ordinary type are provided. The pins 4, 5 are of considerable mass in comparison with the wire so that any moisture reaching them will condense without raising their temperature unduly.
