Locking nuts.-A locking device for bolts particularly designed for fish plates where the bolts g pass through the plates n, o and are secured by nuts h and washers k comprises cover plates a, a1 of channel or other section which embrace the bolts and nuts and are welded or otherwise permanently secured to the fish plates. The plate a is apertured to allow the heads of the bolts to protrude, the plate resting directly on the crowns of the nuts or on interposed washers. In a modification in which the rail is secured to a ground plate f, Fig. 4, through which the bolt b is passed, the cover plate a is apertured to receive the head of the bolt and is welded to the bed plate f.
