Rods and bars. - Round rods of silver-steel, tool-steel, high-speed tool-steel &c. of high polish are made by heating a coil of wire, pickling and drawing and then cutting the drawn wire into rods which are collected into bundles and heated. The heated rods are then ground for 12-24 hours in a rotary drum charged with emery &c. The ground rods are finally subjected to a light drawing operation.
