Manures.-A mixed fertilizer, containingmmonium nitrate and calcium nitrate, is obtained by adding finely-divided calcium carbonate other than the bye-product of the preparation of ammonium sulphate from ammonium carbonate and calcium sulphate into a hot concentrated solution or melt of ammonium nitrate, mixing uniformly and solidifying by spraying. Solidification may be obtained by bringing the mass on to cooled rollers. The product may be crushed, screened, and passed into a rotary tube furnace into which air at about 80‹ to 100‹ C. is admitted. Specification 309,299 is referred to.
