摘要
Colloidal solutions of silver in oils, fats, or fatty acids are prepared by introducing silver oxide, hydroxide, carbonate, or other compound capable of forming a soap with oils &c. into the oil fat, or fatty acid at 200-300 DEG C. filtering the resulting solution, and passing in hydrogen. The silver soap formed acts as a protective colloid. The reduction by hydrogen may be preceded by the addition of an organic reducing agent, preferably oil-soluble such as hydroquinone. The solutions thus obtained may, by heating with mercury, mercuric oxide, or other mercury compound, form colloidal solutions of silver and mercury. In examples the precipitate obtained by adding caustic soda to a solution of a silver salt is added to oil, fat, or fatty acid at 200-300 DEG C. and the solution filtered, when hydroquinone may be added and hydrogen is led in. Further examples show the addition of mercury and mercuric oxide to solutions of silver in olive oil and lard respectively. Specification 12982/13 is referred to.ALSO:In a process for preparing colloidal solutions of silver in oils, fats, or fatty acids by introducing silver oxide, hydroxide, carbonate, or other compound capable of forming a soap with oils &c. at a high temperature, into the oil, fat, or fatty acid at 200 DEG -300 DEG C., filtering the resulting solution, and passing in hydrogen, silver soap is formed and acts as the protective colloid.
