Conduits.-Multiphase bus-bars 20, 20a, 20b in power stations are mounted on spacing insulators in longitudinal trenches 16 formed in the concrete floor 14 of the structure. The trenches are filled with loose solid insulating and non- combustible particles, for example clean quartz sand, and are provided with covers 32. In the arrangement shown duplicate bus-bars are employed and are interconnected by tie-bars 58 (enclosed in a transverse trench similar to that described) through coupling switches 62 which, like those for the incoming and outgoing mains, are high tension oil switches of the verticallyisolating type. The connectors between the switches and the bus-bars are carried through enclosing chambers 48 filled with sand.
