Borehole apparatus. - A two-post draw-works for well-boring plant comprises spaced posts 20 with braces 22, the latter supporting a countershaft 27 driven by a prime mover 13 through chains 30 at either of two speeds ; from the shaft 27, the rotary table 37 is driven through a sprocket 35 and chain 36 controlled by a clutch 38, and the line shaft 65, carrying cat-heads 70, at either of two speeds through chains 68, 69 controlled by a common clutch 54. The line shaft drives the hoisting drum 78 at either of two speeds through chains 82, 84, and clutches 85, 98. The clutch 38 controlling the drive of the rotary table is actuated by a lever 47 acting against a spring 41 through bell-crank lever 45, link 44, bell-crank lever 43, and link 42. The clutch 54 controlling the drive of the line shaft is actuated through a lever 61 and link 58. The clutches 85, 98, controlling the drive of the hoisting drum 78 are actuated through foot-levers 93, 104, acting through concentric shafts and against springs 88, 102.
