Submarine escape chambers. - A double-door chamber for permitting access to or exit from a submerged or sunken submarine consists of partitions 1, 2, Fig. 1, built in the turret 3, and hinged doors or covers 4, 5. The tower 3 leads from a chamber 6 in which the crew assemble. The airpressure in the turret 3 is made equal to the hydrostatic pressure outside, and the doors 4, 5 are opened to afford continuous communication between the chamber 6 and the outside. In the modification shown in Fig. 2, the parts 7, 8 are formed of sheets such as sail cloth or waterproof material.
