Improvements in clockwork recording apparatus for pigeon competition flights and the like

Portable checking and recording clocks. - In apparatus particularly for timing pigeon flights means are provided to detect any attempt to influence the clockwork by shaking. The means as shown in Figs. 2 and 3, comprises an auxiliary balance, consisting of a lever 4 with weighted arms, mounted on an axle 2 supported in a bracket 1 and maintained in a normal position of rest by means of a spring 7. Each arm of the lever 4 is provided with a curved needle 9 which when the balance is oscillated is caused to penetrate the record-disc 3 rotated by the clockwork, the oscillations being limited bv abutment extensions 11 on the bracket. Instead of a spiral spring two blade springs one on either side of the axle 2 may be provided to maintain the balance in mid-position. The arms of the balance lever are curved so that the ends knock against the cover of the apparatus to produce a noise to mask that of the ordinary clock balance.
