Improvements in looms for weaving multi-coloured fabrics

Lappet looms; weft inserters not carrying bobbins and the like, looms with.-In a loom for weaving multicoloured fabrics, figuring wefts 8 from yarns, cones, &c surmounting the loom pass through guide-eyes in needles 6 on a spring-controlled frame 5, which has cam slots 3 engaging pins 1 on the front face of the lay. The frame 5 is reciprocated on the pins 1 at the required times by a cord 22 connected to a lever 28 carrying a cam follower, which can be slid into and out of the path of a cam 32, by mechanism described, under jacquard control. The needles 6 thus move downwards and then laterally and insert the figuring wefts between the foundation cloth and raised warps. The weft loops are retained when the weft inserting needles return by thread-detaining needles 13 on a spring- controlled frame 10, which is constantly reciprocated on the pins 1 and is caused to ascend and descend by cam slots 11 engaging these pins. There may be several frames 5 and several frames 10.
