Alkali-metal compounds, recovering from liquors containing organic matter.-Waste water of artificial silk factories, containing for example, sulphates of magnesium, sodium and zinc, and sulphuric acid is treated with milk of lime, so as to precipitate calcium sulphate, magnesium hydrate and zinc hydrate. The solution, freed from the precipitate is evaporated to crystallize sodium sulphate. The precipitate is then further treated with carbon dioxide to produce magnesium sulphate.
