May 22, 1928. -Pile-fabric looms.-In a loom for weaving single-colour Axminster carpets &c. each tuft-yarn gripper takes its yarn from different yarn-carriers at successive operations and thus avoids the formation of a streak in the carpet should one tuft yarn not be quite its proper colour. As shown, the yarn carrier block c is moved laterally at at each operation of the loom by springs &c., a distance determined by the stepped cam d. The cam d is intermittently lowered by a rod and a cam on the top of the shaft h1, and then raised while the block c is pushed back bv another cam i4 on the shaft h1. The gripper carrier may be moved instead of the block c.
