Actuating by cranks and toothed gearing; casings for actuating mechanism.-A power head for deep well pumps driven by windmills &c. comprises a crank pin 1 rotatably mounted in a block 9 which slides in a slot in a crosshead 10 connected to the pump rod 13. The crosshead reciprocates in guides 11 at right-angles to its slot. The pin 1 may be carried by a gearwheel 2 gearing with a pinion 5 driven by a pulley 3 or other source of power. The wheels 2, 5 are enclosed in a lubricant casing 6. The delivery of the pump is through an outlet 21 in a separate chamber formed in the pedestal 15 supporting the casing 6.
