摘要
340,687. Piers, jetties, &c. ELLSON, B. E., 12A, Wilton Road, Colliers' Wood, Merton, London. Nov. 5, 1929, No. 33612. [Class 68 (ii).] Breakwaters, jetties, and like works are built with the aid of a bridge one end of which rests on the end of the breakwater and the other end on a support which is floated into position and anchored or secured as necessary. Fig. 1 shows a lattice bridge A supported at one end on a breakwater B, and at the other end on a pontoon C. Filled wagons D are run from an up line on to the bridge, emptied, as at G, and run back to a traverser J, turntables H, and the down line. When the breakwater has been extended, say from L to M, the shore end of the bridge is advanced on the bogie N, which runs beneath or at the level of the top of the breakwater B, the pontoon C being advanced or moved laterally. The pontoon may be replaced by a caisson secured to the sea &c. bed by spikes, or by piles. In a modification, the use of a traverser and turntable is avoided by adapting a turn-out switch connecting the up and down lines. In another modification, separate bridges are used for the up and down lines or each bridge may be used independently.
