347,760. Bottle - washing machines. BLAXTER, A. P. L., Niagara Works, Eagle Wharf Road, Hoxton, London. Feb. 4, 1930, No. 3791. [Class 138 (i).] A conveyer, which, according to the Provisional Specification, is stated to be applicable for bottlerinsing or like machines, is provided with a number of pivoted bottle carriers adapted to be moved laterally at predetermined points in the travel, so as to carry the bottles in and out of the general path of the conveyer, the point of return being different from the point of diversion. A number of bottle supports 1 are mounted on lifting plungers 2 slidably mounted in a rotary disc 3 and adapted to run on a track during the partial rotation. Each bottle support is rotatably arranged with respect to rods 8, which are rotatably mounted in the disc 3 and a spider disposed above the disc. A bottle carrier 21 on an arm 19 fixed to the corresponding rod 8 is arranged above each support 1. In use, the disc 3 is intermittently rotated, during the movement from position A to position B, tappet or cam mechanism beneath the disc 3 turns the rod 8 and consequently swings the bottle carrier out of the circular path and into position B, where the bottle may be removed by an operator and replaced by another. The next movement of the disc carries the bottle to position G, and the following movement brings a cam-surface 35 into contact with a stationary roller 36. The carrier is thus swung back into the path of the conveyer. Make-up pieces may be used to adapt the bottle carriers for bottles of smaller sizes. The circular disc 3 may be replaced by an endless conveyer, the carriers being moved laterally to positions on either or both sides of a straight path.
