摘要
Cellulose esters or ethers, dyeing; unspecified types of dyes, dyeing with; printing.-Colourations or coloured pattern effects are produced upon textile materials made of or containing cellulose esters or ethers by applying to or removing from the materials colouring matters in volatilized form. Thus volatile colouring matters may be applied, uniformly or through a stencil, in a current of steam or other hot vapour or gas or may be applied uniformly or locally by the use of a transfer sheet subjected to heat and pressure, with or without a simultaneous embossing operation, as described in Specification 293,022, [Class 140, Waterproof &c. fabrics], Alternatively, the materials may be coloured uniformly or otherwise with a volatile colouring matter, whereafter a volatilization of the colour from selected portions of the material is effected by the local application, e.g. through a stencil, of a hot gas or vapour. A current of steam carrying volatile colouring matter for application to the materials may be obtained by bubbling or injecting steam at sufficiently high temperature and pressure through a solution or suspension of the colouring matter, or by feeding such a solution or suspension to a steam spray jet. Ombre effects may be obtained on fabrics by the use of a series of jets of steam or hot gas carrying volatile colouring matters graded as to their concentration or composition. Specified volatile colouring matters are 4 - nitraniline -- p-xylidine, 2 - nitro- 4 - chloro-41-methyldiphenylamine, and 5-nitro-2-anisidine -- dimethylaniline or diethylaniline. The invention is applicable for colouring mixed materials containing cellulose esters or ethers together with other fibres, such as cotton, silk, wool, regenerated cellulose, or flax, and in addition to fabrics, yarns, e.g. in the form of hanks, cops, or bobbins may be coloured. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the application to textile materials in general. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
