The invention consists in the use of catalysts, such as sulphates and chlorides, other than those mentioned in Specifications 292,611, [Class 91, Oils &c.], and 294,179, [Class 22, Cements &c.], for the catalytic crystallization of bauxite. The invention also includes the use, in general, of catalysts for this crystallization when bauxite is used to agglomerate calcined or crystalline natural or artificial material such as refractory clays, carborundum, burnt clay, calcined siliceous bauxite, sillimanite, mullite, zirconium silicate, the mixture being subsequently fired.
