[Class 120 (ii).] The thread guide 1 of a doubling or twisting machine having tiers or superimposed rows of bobbins is provided with a spring-loaded hinged guide bow 2, 3 adapted to encompass the thread guide and to press it lightly on to the yarn package 10. The bow is pivoted on the bar 4 which carries the thread guide holder 5, and has light springs 7, 8 which keep it in normal working position. The guide bow enables the thread to slip automatically into the guide 1 during operation. A spring catch 9 serves to retain the guide bow and thread guide in a horizontal position during doffing and piecing of broken ends.
