[Class 4.] The tubes of aircraft structures are tested by subjecting their bores to internal pressure and by observing for failure to maintain the pressure applied. The bores of all tubes in a structure may be made to communicate by means of small holes at places of welding or joining or they may be divided into communicating groups each provided with a nipple for the application of fluid under pressure, for instance from a cylinder containing carbonic acid under high pressure, the cylinder having a pressure gauge between the discharge valve and the connector; alternatively each group of tubes may have a nipple for attachment of a pressure gauge.
