[Class 83 (iv).] In an internal tube cutter of the type comprising a slotted body carrying a number of jaws which support cutting discs and are radially adjusted by a tapered member, the jaws are simultaneously retracted by a member having a number of involute or similarly curved surfaces. The body a, which may be squared at c1 to take a ratchet spanner and is slotted to guide a number of jaws m carrying cutting discs p, is screwthreaded at c to engage the threaded portion of the hollow spindle g of the adjusting cone d. Through this spindle passes a spindle s which is provided at one end with a lever t and at the other end with a circular plate x having on its inner face a number of spaces z2 and a number of cams z1, for engaging lugs n on the jaws. The plate x during the cutting operation is kept out of action by a spring 10, which holds a pin u on the spindle s in a slot h in the rear end of the spindle g. After cutting has been effected the cone is returned to initial position and the spindle s is withdrawn so as to bring the plate x into the ring r secured to the body and is then rotated so as to retract the cutting jaws. The jaws are retained in this position by the pin u engaging the end of the spindle g. The body is provided with a guide sleeve 12 with a stop flange 14.
