[Class 83 (iv).] Trimming. - In trimming the edge of a drawn blank f, a cutting punch p, clamp m and pressure pins r are connected to the press head. The blank f is supported on a spring ejector i, and is surrounded by a cutting ring e on a shell d with slots s housing pressure jaws t connected by links u with sliding pivots v. There are four of these links at 90‹ radially. In operation, descent of the press clamps the blank and when the punch p is level with the cutting ring the pins r lower the ring. This moves the jaws t inwards and forces the cutting ring transversely to co-operate with the punch f. The jaws t are staggered and operate successively.
