Method of stabilising monocalcic phosphate in its solutions and its transformation into other soluble phosphates, particularly alkaline phosphates

Stable solutions of monocalcium phosphate are obtained by adding 5-40 per cent of an organic acid either to the solid material such as superphosphate before extraction or to the water used for making the solution. Acids specified are tartaric, citric, formic, butyric, and lactic. The solutions obtained may be employed for the production of alkali phosphates, and the organic acids may be recovered either by precipitation from the monocalcium phosphate solution immediately before it is used, or by elimination from the alkali phosphate solution obtained.
