[Class 38 (iii).] Travelling to predetermined limits.-The power factor of a supply system is maintained approximately constant by means of a relay which automatically varies a capacity load on the system. Blocks of delta connected condensers 40, 41, &c. of graded capacity are connected to three groups of contacts on a rotary switch CS coupled to a reversible motor M controlled through a reversing switch RC by a relay R. Arms 133 effect connection between individual contacts in the groups and adjacent segments 134 to effect connection to the threephase line of a particular condenser group. The switch CS is further provided with a set of contacts 136, 137, 138 with which and a segment 144 an arm 135 engages to ensure that the reversing switch remains energized until the arms 133 are in full contacting position with the fixed contacts. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 285,912 and 289,114, [both in Class 38 (iv), Electric supply and transmission systems &c.].
