[Class 37.] The apparatus for measuring average voltage of a consumer's circuit according to the parent Specification is modified by providing the timemeasuring device in the form of a time switch which operates on the counter of the time device and on the setting of the meter. The counters of the meter and switch are provided with zero-setting mechanism which may be operated electrically or mechanically. In a further modification, a magneto motor meter replaces the wattmeter, a friction or other coupling with the time switch being provided, this arrangement being provided on continuous current circuits. In one construction, Fig. 1, riders 22, 23 on the dial 21 of the time switch engage with a star-shaped member 24 to rock a lever 26 for disengaging the gear of the switch counter 33 and for braking the meter disc 15 by a brake-block 34. In a modification, the star member 24 closes the voltage circuit of the meter and energizes a relay the armature of which effects disengagement of the switch counter gear. A further modification, Fig. 3, shows a magneto motor meter 45 comprising a rotating coil 48 and permanent magnets 46, 47. The rotor shaft drives the meter counter 17 and also the time counter 33 through a worm 50 and friction clutch 54, the friction clutch being energized by a relay connected to terminals 55. The zero-setting shaft may also be actuated by a relay 56, or it may be actuated mechanically by a key engaging the part 57. The relay 56 and clutch-operating relay are connected in parallel across the main circuit and are closed by engagement of the riders 22, 23 and star member 24.
