375,544. Loose-leaf binders. WELLS, G. N. and WELLS & CO., Ltd., G., 42, Southwark Street, London. June 22, 1931, No. 18046. [Class 146 (i).] In loose-leaf binders of the type having filing-posts terminating in a rotatable transverse abutment for locking engagement in apertured parts, the abutments are permanently attached to the posts so that the post and its abutment form a single unit, for co-operation with an apertured plate. The metal post 1, Fig. 1, is provided with a substantially T- shaped head 7 adapted to be inserted in an apertured plate 8 which is secured to the cover 4 of the binder. The cover 4 is folded to provide two folded parts 10, 10a which are stitched or riveted at 11. The baseplate 2 of each post is held between the fold of the part 10, and the apertured plate 8 is provided with prongs 12 which are passed through one or both parts of the fold 10a and bent over. The baseplate 2 may be integral with the post 1, or may be riveted to a reduced-diameter extension of the post, and may be formed with an arcuate or channel sectioned periphery in order to avoid exposed sharp edges and provide rigidity. The baseplate 2 may be formed with prongs to secure it to the fold 10a and in this case the post 1 is rotatable relatively to it. In a modification the head 7, Fig. 7, is rotatable relatively to the post 1, and the post is formed of rubber, leather, flexible tube, elastic, or a length of coiled wire similar to a length of Bowden wire outer casing. The head 7 is formed with a reduced-diameter portion which passes through and is riveted to a metal cap 17 fixed to the top of the post by means such as punched depressions 19. The lower end of the post is fitted with a similar cap 18 having a head 20 which is secured to the baseplate 2. If desired, the head 7 may be fixed to the post 1 and the head 20 arranged to rotate in the baseplate 2. Instead of employing one apertured plate 8 for each post, a metal &c. strip having apertures for all the posts may be provided ; also the baseplates 2 of the posts may be replaced by a single metal strip.'
