376,584. Kinematography. BRAND, H. B., 55, Turkenstrasse, Munich, Germany. Oct. 22, 1931, No. 29383. [Class 97 (i).] A kinematograph camera is reciprocated, during photographing, along a guide curved in a vertical plane and having its centre of curvature in the object photographed ; it may be simultaneously reciprocated in a horizontal curved path having the same centre of curvature, or a centre in front of, or behind it. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the camera 3 is carried by a bracket 7 having rollers 4, 5, 6, running on curved guides 2, and is reciprocated by hand or foot operation of a crank 13 connected through a slotted lever 16 to the shaft of toothed segments 15 meshing with pinions 14 on the shaft of crank arms or discs 11 linked to the bracket by rods 12. A carriage 8 having rollers 37 engaging curved guides 9, 10 carried by the bracket, may be interposed between the bracket 7 and the camera 3 to support the camera, and may be reciprocated laterally by a lever 30 pivoted at 31 and engaging by rollers 24, 28, respectively, an adjustably inclined guide 25 secured to the bracket and bars 29 secured to the carriage. A modification is described in which the crank discs 11 are continuously rotated to reciprocate the bracket 7, and the carriage 8 is reciprocated by means of an endless cam groove in the surface of a cylinder rotated through gearing and a crank arm linked to the disc 11.
