[Class 6 (i).] Apparatus for dressing fruit trees &c. with powdered material comprises a wheeled chassis adapted to be coupled to a hand-guided motor tractor, a hopper or container and an air blower mounted on the chassis, an injector supplied with air from the blower and adapted to expel material through a distributing device, means for feeding the material from the container to the injector, and means for driving the blower and feeding-device from the tractor. The wheel axle 3 passes through a tube 2 bridging two girders 1 pivotally connected to the tractor 5. A blower 6 is driven by belt gearing from an extension of the shaft of the tractor engine, the blower casing being adjustably connected to the tractor by links 10. A fluted or pocketed roller 28 delivers the powdered material from a hopper 29 into an air chamber 31 having an air inlet 32 and surrounding a nozzle 33 through which the blower discharges. The feed roller 28 is rotated intermittently by ratchet gearing actuated through a link 22 and an arm 23 by a crank or eccentric on a shaft 14 driven by a chain 20 and a friction disc 12 and grooved friction wheel 11. The feed may be stopped by raising bars 13 which are pivoted on the shaft 14 and carry the friction disc 12 and the chain-driving wheel 18. A reduction cone or Venturi tube 36 is mounted in the discharge pipe 35 in front of the nozzle 33, and the pipe 35 is flexibly connected to a spraying-device 37 provided with one or more handles 38. The outlet from the hopper 29 may be regulated by means of a slide 39, and may be closed by a spring-controlled flap valve 41 actuated by means of a cable 44 leading to the handles of the tractor.
