382,181. Making cased forms. ROBINSON, A. D., 783, Chester Road, Birmingham. March 1, 1932, No. 6116. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv).] Drawing ; rolling.-In making composite wire, rod, bar, strip or tubing consisting of a surface layer of corrosion resisting metal and a foundation of corrodible metal, the ingots, blooms or bars from which the articles are to be subsequently produced by rolling or drawing are shaped so as to be mechanically interlocked in order to prevent slipping between the parts during the rolling or drawing operation. The parts may be machined or otherwise formed so as to be fitted into each other, e.g. by screwing, or the interlocking may be effected by forging the composite ingot &c. According to the Provisional Specification a hollow bloom may be formed also or alternatively with an inner layer of corrosion resisting metal.
