[Class 120 (ii).] A device for supporting spun cakes of artificial silk or like yarn windings which are to be vertically unwound, endwise, comprises a number of springy bows 1 arranged around a vertical axis, and shaped like the generatrix of a bell with the mouth downwards, each bow having the portion which corresponds to the direction of the inner wall of the cake at such a distance from the axis that the sides of the bows must be pressed together to permit the slipping on of the cake. The interior of the cake is preferably protected by means of a sleeve of textile material or paper and a ring or disc of textile material or pelt, e.g. rabbit skin, may be laid over the outwardly bent lower ends 3 of the bows.
