摘要
299,492. Sacchi, M. Casale-. July 25, 1927. Methanol.-A hydrogen-carbon monoxide mixture for methanol synthesis is obtained by reacting water in the liquid state with carbon monoxide, or gases such as water gas containing it, in the presence of catalysts. The reaction is effected at a temperature below the critical temperature. of water, i.e. at 180-360‹ C., and at a pressure, i.e. 20-150 atmospheres, higher than the vapour pressure of water at that temperature. The catalysts used may be metals such as reduced copper, nickel, iron, thallium, platinum, or palladium, or metallic oxides, or metallic salts of weak inorganic acids, or mixtures of the aforesaid. The reaction may be effected in a tower containing water in which is the catalyst, the gas being passed through in small bubbles. The exit gases pass to an exchanger in which they heat the incoming gases, and thence to a carbon dioxide eliminator.
