384,086. Discharge lamps. COMPAGNIE POUR LA FABRICATION DES COMPTEURS ET MATERIEL D'USINES A GAZ, 12, Place des Etats-Unis, Montrouge, Seine, France. Dec. 4, 1931, No. 33697. Convention date, Dec. 4, 1930. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (iii).] A source of light for a television receiver comprises a tube T of small diameter compared with its length, containing a gas (helium and neon) at reduced pressure, the two electrodes E1, E2 being located so that the positive column is seen end on through one end of the tube, the anode having a small aperture, preferably rectangular, so that the light close to the anode may be seen. An internally polished sleeve C surrounds the tube to concentrate the light and the diaphragm anode E2 is inclined to reduce the area of cross section of the beam. A lens L produces a real image I of the aperture and rotating or oscillating mirrors are used to reconstitute the television image. Specifications 236,915, [Class 39 (i), Electric lamps, Arc &c.], 373,539, and 373,540 are referred to.
