[Class 82 (i).] Zinc dust, zinc waste, zinc ashes, &c. are treated for the production of metallic zinc by heating in closed rotary vessels wherein the surfaces which effect by friction the removal of oxide from the metal drops are kept by external heating at a temperature somewhat above the melting-point of zinc. The closed vessel may rotate inside a heated chamber, or may be traversed by an internally heated pipe of large diameter.
