[Class 3 (i).] In roller-blind mechanism for advertising or indicating apparatus, the flexible blind extends between two rollers B, C and a friction device is associated with each roller so that it can rotate freely in one direction but acts as a brake against rotation of the roller in the opposite direction. The friction device comprises a leather disc E3 secured to the plate E in which the shaft Bl of the roller B is journalled, a floating disc-like member B3 which is rotatable on an enlarged portion of the shaft B1, and spring pawls B2 on the roller which co-operate with ratchet teeth on the inner face of the floating member B3. When the pawl and ratchet teeth are in engagement, the surfaces of the members B3, E3 co-operate to brake the movement of the roller. In a modification (not shown) the stub axle of the roller is journalled in the floating member. The rollers are rotated by means of a handle F3 causing one of the gears F1 to engage the corresponding gear F2.
