389,399. Coin-freed kinematograph apparatus. KLœSSENDORF, H., 6, Am Wald, Brieselang, Osthavelland, Germany. Sept. 16, 1932, No. 25847. Convention date, Nov. 26, 1931. [Class 27.] Kinematograph apparatus comprising an endless film wound on rollers, and housed in a casing together with a projection screen viewed through a sight opening, is set in operation by coin action and stopped by film action. Coin-action, weight.-A coin inserted through a slit in the casing falls through a channel 15 to a coin box, and turns a lever 18 so that a spring contact 19 carried by it temporarily engages a fixed contact 20 to complete a circuit I energizing an electromagnet 21. The armature 22 then rocks about a pivot 54, and a pawl 56 on an arm 55 secured to it engages a ratchet wheel to turn the wheel and a cruciform member 58 through 90‹. This movement rocks . a mercury switch 23 about a pivot 59 and completes the circuit II of the motor. The circuit continues completed until a cut portion of the margin of the film permits a narrow roller 25 to contact with a film roller 24 and temporarily complete a circuit III to energize the magnet 21 again. The consequent armature movement causes the member 58 to move through a further 90‹ and permit the switch 23 to fall to the position shown, thus breaking the motor circuit. The momentum of the parts carries the cut portion of the film margin from between the rollers 24, 25. Returning coin coin-slit closing-devices.-In the event of breakage of the film, or of shortening of a film loop, a weighted lever on a shaft 32 is released so as to turn the shaft. The shaft carries fibre rings 39 provided with conducting strips 40 which normally bridge contacts 41 in the various circuits, and the turning of the shaft 32 breaks all the circuits. The tail end of the weighted lever also releases a coin which falls into a cup accessible from outside the casing, and moves a slide to cover the coin slit.
