[Class 100 (i).] The feed mechanism of a device for festooning linoleum, coated fabric, or other material where it is undesirable to touch the face of the sheet comprises a plurality of revolving conveyers including a travelling lattice adapted to be raised and lowered automatically so as to feed a succession of festoons to outriggers or other parts of the festooning device. To prevent slipping and other undesirable movement of the sheet, the aprons of the travelling conveyers are provided with a toothed or ribbed or other gripping surface, and/or are perforated so that suction may be applied to the sheet. In the form illustrated, sheet f is fed from a roller e to a conveyer g which grips and forwards it to the reciprocated travelling conveyer c which feeds forward the sheet, and is periodically raised slowly by an arm of the star-wheel b acting on projections c1, and then released and allowed to fall rapidly, whereby a festoon is formed over a bar a1 of a receptor mechanism such as that described in Specification 206,161, [Class 34 (i), Drying gases &c.]. The main drive of the apparatus is on the shaft of the roller e ; the conveyer c is driven by a chain e1 kept taut by a jockey pulley e3.
