[Class 40 (iv).] A diaphragm or horn is formed of strips of pliable wood or cane plaited or woven in such a way as to allow vibratory movement of the individual strips, the diaphragm or horn so formed being coated with a material to render the strips more sound responsive. The coating material preferably closes interstices left in the weaving. The diaphragm or horn may be pressed into shape from a sheet of woven strips or the strips may be woven into a conical or concave shape. The coating is preferably formed of tissue paper and after application may be waterproofed.
