[Class 144 (i).] A flexible side-splash guard a, of the kind described in Specification 344,583, is formed of rubber or like flexible material with an inner rim b for mounting purposes and, on its outer face, with a series of radial buttresses. In the form shown in Figs. 2 and 5, solid buttresses c are moulded integral with the main portion a of the guard, with or without fabric or resilient metal reinforcing insertions, such as r. Fig. 4 shows a modification in which hollow buttresses o are secured to the part a, with an intervening fabric strip n. Such hollow buttresses may be permanently inflated, or fitted with inflating- valves p ; or, the series of buttresses may be inflated from a common tube fitted with a single valve. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the portion b of the guard is fitted to an anglering f which is connected to the wheel-rim by a pair of hooked clamps i and bolts h. Additional brackets j, hooked to ring f, are apertured to fit over the usual wheel-attachment bolts.
