[Class 81 (ii).] An apparatus for massaging and rubbing liquids and ointments into the scalp comprises a handle or holder 2 having finger-like teeth 3 adapted to be moved longitudinally through the hair, a reinforced cylindrical or shuttle-shaped absorbent body 6 being interchangeably mounted in a recess on the underside of each tooth so as to project below the tooth. The bodies 6 are each provided with a central or eccentric bore, extending either therethrough or nearly to the front end thereof, in which is situated a reinforcing pin 4. The bodies 6 are secured in position by screws 5 in the rear ends of the teeth which act upon the rear ends of the pins 4 and press the front ends of the bodies, or of the pins 4, into conical cavities 8 provided in the front end 7 of the teeth. The absorbent bodies may consist of felt, and may be made in sections mounted side by side and projecting below the teeth at different levels so as to fit the curvature of the scalp. In use, the absorbent bodies are dipped into liquids or ointments and rubbed over the scalp.
