摘要
407,254. Sealing periodicals &c. BERNARD, L., 11, Obermain-Anlage, and BURKARD, J., 64, Kleyerstrasse, both in Frankfort-on-Main, Germany. Aug. 11, 1933, No. 22486. Convention date, Aug. 13, 1932. [Class 146 (ii).] In order to prevent resale, the sheets of folded journals or periodicals are joined at a corner by a stitched seam a, Fig. 4, so that the journal cannot be opened without destruction of the seam. The front page may be distinctively marked at the stitched corner, so that the corner, when cut off at the line h, may serve as a voucher for return to the publisher. The journals are offset laterally, so as to expose the corner portions, by feeding them on to an obliquely travelling conveyer e, Fig. 3, which carries them past a sewing-machine f, the thread being severed between the journals by an automatic cutter. Alternatively, the seams may be made while the journals are descending vertically.
