摘要
410,358. Decorticating hemp stalks. GENNARO, U., 38, Via Amedeo Peyron, Turin, Italy. July 29, 1933, No. 21359. Convention date, July 30, 1932. [Class 120 (i).] In the decortication of hemp and like stalks which are fed endwise side by side to disintegrating or crushing rollers and successively to subdividing rollers which split the stalks longitudinally and to a series of rollers of decreasing pitch adapted to break the woody material into chips, the stalks are fed in staggered relationship to crushing rollers which stiffen the stalks then to dividing rollers which split the stalks longitudinally in the known manner and then to a set of skeleton or cage rollers having blades of decreasing pitch for bending the stalks alternately in opposite directions. The stalks 1, Fig. 1, are passed successively through feed rollers 2, which may be smooth or longitudinally fluted, smooth crushing rollers 3, knife rollers 4 having annular ribs 5a which divide the stalks into longitudinal strips and then through pairs of open cage drums 5, 51, 52, Figs. 1 and 4, having blades 6, 61, 62 which break the stalks in a transverse direction while permitting discharge of the pieces or chips so formed. The pitch of the blades decreases in succeeding pairs of drums while inclined baffles 9 and a shaker or shakers comprising a shaft 10 having staggered teeth 11 are provided to expel the chips.
