[Class 142 (iii).] Relates to shuttles for looms with automatic cop changing mechanism for weaving with yarns of jute, hemp, linen, fine cotton waste &c. and wherein the weft is withdrawn from the inside of a bobbin that is held in the shuttle by parallel bars engaging with the bobbin casing. The bobbin casing 1, Fig. 1, has annular beads formed on rings 3, 4 for engagement by notches 7, Fig. 2, on the parallel bars 5. The bars are pivoted in a head 11 and in the threader 10 and are urged towards the bobbin casing by springs. The bobbin casing is formed as a cylindrical tube of cloth, indiarubber, or metallic fabric, and it may be roughened internally to act in conjunction with a rubber sleeve 8 for holding the yarn. A resilient cap 9 is provided on the ring 4 by which the weft feeler feels the yarn 2, while the other end of the tube is reinforced at 11 by turning over and glueing. Weft is prevented from falling between the casing and the threader 10 by a spring 17 on the threader. The weft is tensioned by a transverse spring 12 and brake pin 13, Fig. 4, in the threader which is provided with a weft slot 14 and a guide 15. Unthreading of the weft is prevented by a nose-shaped under part 16 of the guide 15.
