[Class 78 (i)] The conveying conduit is provided at intervals with discharge valves each of which comprises a short length of pipe 1 and a bent pipe 7 mounted on plates 4, 5 which are rotatably mounted on a spindle 13 so that either the pipe 1 can be moved into position to connect the parts 18, 19 of the conduit, or the pipe 7 can be connected to the part 18 to discharge the material. The pipe 7 is mounted rotatably on the plate 4 in order that the direction of discharge may be varied, and is retained in any position by a spring 12. If the conveyer is used for conveying material such as tea to drying racks, after the material has been dried it is swept on to the plate 22, sucked into the pipe 18, and delivered to another point for further treatment.
