[Class 39 (i)] A relaxation oscillation generator arrangement comprises a discharge device in which the gas filling is adjusted to such a pressure that there is little or no variation in the frequency of the oscillations over a certain range of cathode heating voltage ; the filling may be a rare gas at a pressure of 0À15-1 mm. The cathode may be indirectly heated by a bifilar filament, and the maximum anode voltage is 220 volts. A grid biassed with a constant voltage may be provided. In another arrangement in which a cold cathode is used, the adjustment of the gas pressure is effected during manufacture by means of a heater outside the envelope.
