431,401. Automatic regulation. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, MAYO, C. G., 17, Alexandra Road, and MOIR, J., 24, Lawrence Road, both in Rugby. Jan. 6, 1934, No. 579. [Class 38 (iv)] In a supply to a load from a D.C. circuit through a rotary transformer, the voltage is maintained constant by means of a series or parallel resonant circuit connected in series in the A.C. circuit. A series resonant circuit is arranged to be resonant at a frequency corresponding to the lowest D.C. voltage so that as the frequency rises due to increase of the D.C. voltage the impedance of the circuit increases. A parallel resonant circuit is arranged to be resonant at a frequency corresponding to the highest D.C. voltage, so that the voltage drop across it increases as the frequency increases. When a parallel resonant circuit is used the condenser may be supplied by a step-up transformer to enable a smaller condenser to be used. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 405,043.
