433,431. Grinding. LINDNER, H., 9, Lubarser Strasse, Wittenau, Berlin. Feb. 22, 1935, No. 5736. Convention date, April 7, 1934. [Class 60] [See also Groups XXII and XVI] In a machine for cutting linear tracks on a plane surface or for defining the edges of recesses in the surface to make a linear templet for photographic control of a tool, the tool 15, which may be a grinding disc, is mounted so that it can move in circular arcs in a plane and can also move relatively to the work in two directions at right angles to the same plane to enable successive straight and curved sections to be traced or cut. In one form, Fig. 1, the work-table 1 is moved in guides 4 by a hand wheel 3 and the tool support 9 is moved by a hand wheel 11 at right angles to the table movement along a bridge 8 carried by columns 6, 7. The tool slide 12 is slidable in vertical guides and the too] is carried on an arm slidable horizontally in a head 14 which may be rotated by hand-operated worm gearing 16 17 to move the tool in a curved path, the radius of which is indicated by a scale 18. In a modification Fig. 3, the tool head is movable by a hand wheel 22 along a bridge member 21 which is itself movable in a perpendicular direction along the work bed 20. The rotational movement of the tool is effected from a hand wheel 25. Scales are provided for indicating the extent of the rectilinear movements.
