[Classes 120 (ii) and 120 (iii)] Double or multi-folded thread is produced by leading two or more separate unspun strands or groups of strands of drawn fibres through a set of converging twist tubes 8, 8a rotating at high speed to a common point, without passage between rollers, and then directly to a ring, flyer, cap, or other twisting-device rotating at a lower speed than the tubes. For producing special effects one or more of the strands may be a spun yarn. The twist tubes may be of any suitable construction, such 'as a hollow cylinder with a hole cut in the side at the top or bottom, or a cylinder with an inclined bore, and driven by bands, belts, gearing, turbines or electric motors. The strands may be of cotton, rayon, wool, silk, or any other textile fibre or mixture, at least one being formed from sliver or roving drawn by rollers and consolidated by the tube through which it passes. The Provisional Specification describes also an arrangement wherein the yarns may pass between delivery rollers after leaving the twisters which may rotate in the same direction or in opposite directions, and an arrangement wherein the folded yarns pass through water or water containing adhesive.
