444,895. Steam traps. MACINTOSH, J., 20, Upper Gilmore Place, Edinburgh. Sept. 28, 1934, No. 27801. [Class 64 (ii)] [See also Group XXIX] A valve O for reducing steam pressures or, in a modification, a ball valve for discharging condensed steam, is actuated by a thermallysensitive device consisting of a spiral corrugated tube A, Fig. 3, wound with wire B and fitted to end caps C, D, the tube after being filled, being sealed by a rod F which may serve as a guide. The tube is located in a casing G to which steam is admitted by tubes H, a mica joint L being inserted between the casing and valve body. The tube may be adjusted by a rod J adapted to be locked by a nut and lock K. Many substances, e.g. turpentine, naphtha coal tar or rosin are mentioned as suitable filling substances for the corrugated tube.
