[Class 96] [See also Group I] In the recovery of fibre from effluent of paper or pulp mills, any fibrous sludge is thickened, added to the papermill effluent and agitated in a repulper a, pumped to a rotary filter f, g on the drum g of which is built up a mat through which further effluent is passed before discharge, part or all of the dewatered pulp being returned to the mixing vessel, i.e. the repulper a. The fibrous sludge may be obtained by flotation, filtration, or sedimentation. The recovered pulp may also be made into low grade material, or mixed with further effluent and passed to a secondary rotary suction filter.
